2013 Dodge Journey SUV
Introduction
When it came out four decades ago, the Dodge Journey cross-over didnt have much in its benefit. We used the opinion "Needs Improvement" so frequently on its report card that we were certain its destiny as a back-of-the-class access was enclosed. Yet two decades later it was more like "Most Improved" as the Trip experienced a complete under-the-skin transformation that put it on the respect roll. Yes, the 2013 Dodge Journey may look the same as that original 09, but theyre as different as a scholar-athlete is from the category clown.

Always in its benefit has been the Journeys internal versatility. Roomier than your typical lightweight cross-over SUV, the more wagon-like Trip provides a little third-row seat that can provide a number of young children. That included versatility, along with its reasonable measurements, makes the Trip the just-right choice for an ideal close relatives vehicle without the included cost, energy appetite and vehicle parking complications of the larger three-row crossovers.

Under the bonnet, its a story of two google -- one suitable and one not. The base four-cylinder is underpowered and its gas mileage isnt that excellent. The 3.6-liter V6, on the other hand, is one of the strongest google in this section, yet it still provides reasonable gas mileage. Ongoing, the Trip features consisting managing and a soft drive, while inside is a fashionable cottage fixed with high-quality components and supplied with user-friendly high-tech functions. Other features consist of invisible areas and optionally available incorporated kid seat.

Performance
The 2013 Dodge Journey AVP, SE and SXT are operated by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder motor which makes 173 horse power and 166 pound-feet of twisting. A four-speed automated gearbox and front-wheel generate are conventional. Its EPA-estimated gas mileage is 19 mpg city/26 mpg road and 22 mpg mixed ? not excellent given its anemic speeding and thriftier opponents.

Optional on the SXT and conventional on the Team and R/T is a 3.6-liter V6. Its excellent for 283 hp and 260 lb-ft and is printed to a six-speed automated. Front-wheel generate is conventional and all-wheel generate is optionally available. At the track we documented a 7.5-second 0-60-mph here we are at a Trip V6 FWD, a typical here we are at the category. Fuel economic program appears at 17/25/20 with front-wheel generate and 16/24/19 with all-wheel drive; both are a little below regular for V6-powered little crossovers.

Safety
Every 2013 Dodge Journey comes conventional with antilock disk braking system, grip and balance management, active front part head constraints, front part side protection bags, part layer protection bags and a car owner joint airbag. Integrated second-row kid enhancer seat are optionally available on every Trip.

In government accident assessments, the Trip obtained four out of five celebrities for overall accident security, with four celebrities granted for frontal-impact security and five celebrities for side-impact security. In accident examining by the Insurance Institution for Highway Safety, the Trip obtained the top score of "Good" in the frontal-offset, side-impact and roof-strength assessments.

The Interior Style and Special Features
From both design and performance standpoints, the Journeys internal rates as one of the best in the section. The components are excellent in high quality, the style is clean and modern and the up-to-the-minute technology is pretty easy to use. We especially like the extra-large touchscreen display user interface available on most models.

Other strong points for the Trip consist of its brilliant storage space containers and available incorporated kid seat that make it extremely family-friendly. Also helping that cause is a flexible sitting agreement. While the Dodges shifting and postioned second-row seat is now the standard for this category, its optionally available third-row seat is not. Like the one in the Chevy RAV4, this seat is far from adult-friendly, but if you need to take a several additional children to a T-ball sport, it should come in handy.

In terms of transporting freight, the Trip provides a total capacity of 68 cubic legs with all back seat collapsed. Thats a few pieces small than the RAV4 and CR-V, but bigger than the Chevrolet Equinox. For small items, the Trip provides storage space containers invisible under the second-row floor as well as under the traveler seat.

Driving Impressions
The 2013 Dodge Journeys four-cylinder motor just doesnt have enough energy to get this heavy cross-over shifting. It also doesnt provide enough gas mileage to rationalize its poor performance. As such, wed Dodge  it and step up to the 3.6-liter V6. This motor is used throughout the Chrysler/Dodge lineups, and for excellent reason: It provides sleek, solid energy and reasonable gas mileage. Unfortunately, its six-speed automated gearbox can be slow to reply when a downshift (or two) is needed.

On the move, the Trip is qualified for the category, with a sleek drive and secure managing. The latter feels especially confident, offering accurate guiding with a light yet still nicely heavy experience to it. That said, a Honda Evade or Honda CR-V likely will experience more nimble around town, while the Chevrolet Equinox provides an even more comfortable and silent drive on the highway.
